Meeting of the World Heritage Committee will be held in Istanbul from 10 to 20 July 2016


29 nominations for inscription on the World Heritage List

During its 40th session, which will be held at the Istanbul Congress Centre (Turkey) from 10 to 20 July 2016, the World Heritage Committee will consider 29 applications for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Chairman of the Committee be Ambassador and Director General for Culture and Tourism of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Lale Ulker.
The Committee will consider the candidacy of nine natural, 16 cultural and four mixed (natural and cultural) sites. In addition, during the forthcoming session of the Committee to conduct the analysis of 108 state of conservation of sites already included on the World Heritage List, and 48 sites on the List of World Heritage in Danger. Direct broadcast of the Committee meetings will be conducted in site.
The following objects have been proposed for inclusion in the World Heritage List:

Natural Beauty:
  • Misteyken Point (Canada)
  • Shennongjia in Hubei (China)
  • Tectonic and volcanic mountain chain formation Shen De Puy and fault Liman (France)
  • The desert Dasht-e Lut (Iran)
  • Western Tien Shan (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan)
  • Archipelago Revillagigedo Islands (Mexico)
  • National Marine Sanctuary "Sanganeb" and "Bay Dungonab - Mekovar Island" (Sudan)
  • Forestry Keng Krachai (Thailand)
  • Mountain ecosystems Koytendag (Turkmenistan)

Mixed natural and cultural sites:
  • Pimachiovin Aki (Canada)
  • Kanchenjunga National Park (India)
  • The Mesopotamian marshes of southern Iraq: the center of biodiversity and landscapes of relict cities of Mesopotamia (Iraq)
  • The natural and cultural landscape of the mountain plateau of Ennedi (Chad)

Cultural facilities:
  • The architectural heritage of Le Corbusier: an outstanding contribution to Modernism (Germany, Argentina, Belgium, France, India, Japan, Switzerland)
  • Nelson's Dockyard in Antigua and related archaeological sites (Antigua and Barbuda)
  • Stechkov - Medieval grave (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia)
  • Pampulha complex in the style of modernism (Brazil)
  • The cultural landscape of rock art Tszotszyan Hua Shan (China)
  • Roman urbanism Zadar peninsula located at the Forum with a monumental complex of buildings (Croatia)
  • Dolmen Antequera (Spain)
  • Outstanding monuments of modern architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright (United States)
  • Archaeological Site of Philippi (Greece)
  • Restored ruins of Nalanda Mahavihara (India)
  • Karez in Persian (Iran)
  • Nan Madol: religious and cultural center in Eastern Micronesia (Federated States of Micronesia)
  • Archaeological sites and historic downtown Panama [substantial change in the boundaries of the object "Archaeological Site of Panama Viejo and Historic District of Panamá] (Panama)
  • Neanderthal Cave in Gibraltar and the surrounding area (United Kingdom of Great Britain)
  • Phuphrabat Historical Park (Thailand)
  • The archaeological site of Ani (Turkey)

    For inclusion in the World Heritage List in Danger, the following objects have been proposed:

    From 29 June to 12 July in Istanbul, on the eve of the session of the World Heritage Committee will be held Expert Forum on Youth Affairs. The Forum will be attended by young professionals from different countries who are involved in vigorous activity for Heritage. At the conclusion of the Forum, participants will take the Declaration to be presented at the opening of the 40th session of the World Heritage Committee.
